THE SNOWSMITH
Ottilie (aged 4.5) and I had a blast at The Snowsmith’s Gala performance last weekend. Before we’d even got to our seats we’d been transported from the cold streets of Ware into Eira’s magical meteorology lab and through an enchanted forest, filled with real trees and some hidden owls - can you spot them?!
We grabbed a coffee and a mince pie and took to our seats, the lights went down and we were glued from start to finish. A wonderful mix of puppetry, atmospheric folk music, simple but effective set design and feel good storytelling. We followed Eira, the experimental meteorologist, as she rediscovers the joy of the most magical of weather…snow!
Half a String, the creators behind the show, brought the story to life through beautiful handmade sets, from Eira’s fold out wooden cabin to the 9m long hand painted floor cloth, to the wonderful puppets. Check out their IG page for a little look behind the scenes!
This production is a refreshing alternative to your typical Christmas show. You’ll leave feeling all warm, fuzzy and festive! Otts hasn’t stopped talking about the little surprise at the end…truly magical!
